Halloween

Kayla is at the perfect Halloween age. She remembered trick-or-treating from last year so she was a pro. this year. When asking her what she wanted to be this year she keep saying Dora, so I ready for a Dora costume hunt. Then she walked into a store that has Cinderella dress hanging in front and she was done. She wanted to be a prince with a blue dress. So looked so cute and so grown up.

Thursday Kayla had a Halloween parade and party at school. She got to wear her dress all day and would not take it off when we got home.

Halloween day Paul put a little wrench into our plans for the day. I woke up to call from him from New York. He was traveling for work and was to be home around 1:00 that day. He called that he had hurt his ankle that night before and now is not sure how he was going to get to the airport to make his flight. He got someone to help him and got on the next flight to Atlanta. I then get another call saying he does not think he can drive his car home (it is stick shift and he hurt his left ankle) and that I needed to come pick him up at the airport. So Kayla and I drive to get him and take him to the hospital. He manged to break his ankle. They put a splint on him and send us home with crutches. He is not allowed to put any wait on this foot. We get home in time to set up for the pre-trick-or-treat party we had planned to have in our front yard. Paul's parents came up (they we already planning on it) and helped me with Kayla and grilled the food for me. Paul's mom passed out candy for me and his dad and I took Kayla trick-or-treating. She went until her bucket was full and too heavy for her to carry. All in all it turned out to be a great Halloween for Kayla and one Paul would love to forget. She has been on a sugar high today.

It's a BOY !!

Paul and I could not wait 4 more weeks to find out what the baby is so we went to a 3D ultrasound place yesterday to find out. It's a boy. The ultrasound tech also said he looked really good and everything that she could see at 16 weeks was normal. So we were very happy it is a boy and relieved that he is healthy. The 3D was pretty neat. Here are some 3D pictures.

This one says "I;m a boy and I'm not shy about it!"

Busy Weekend

Kayla had a very fun and busy weekend. Saturday she had a soccer game. We think she peaked a little early in the soccer session because since she scored her first goal she has not done much during a game. She does have fun though. Sunday, we took Kayla to the Fair and then to our neighborhood fall festival. She has no fear and rode any ride they would let her on and begged to ride all the other ones.

Kayla Scored her first goal

Fall soccer session has started. Kayla understands the game much better this session. Her and her dad have been working on getting herself in the middle of the pack to get to the ball. And yes he has been teaching her to push people out of her way if she needs to. She has gotten pretty good at that also. The 2nd game of the session everything seam to click for Kayla. She stole the ball from a boy on the other team and had a break away run to the goal. She ran it right to the goal and scored. She had the biggest grin on her face when she turned around to look at us on the sidelines. She then had 2 assist and one other goal- it just happen to be for the other team. We were so proud of her and she was so proud of herself.

Weekend Trip to Jackson

This is a very late post for this weekend, but the pictures were to cute not to post. Paul, Kayla, Jordan, and I went to Jackson to visit Grandma Di and Papa Art. The trip was in Aug. Kayla and Jordan LOVED the pool. Here are a few pictures of Kayla in the pool.

Papa Art fixed the Slide just for Kayla.
(It has not worked for probably 15-20 years. )

Again, Kayla had no fear of the water.
She jumped right off the driving board with no help.

The pool wore Kayla and Jordan out. They both slept almost the whole 3 hours home.

Beach Trip to HHI with the Hadden family

We went to Hilton Head Island for our last beach trip. My brother and his wife with their 8 month old twins also came for the week. Here are a few pictures of the girls.

All 3 girls in their matching swimsuits.

We took Kayla to play putt-putt for the first time.
She loved hitting the ball into the water.

My Little Fish

Kayla is swimming now. After a week at the beach when we went to the pool every day, she is swimming by herself. She has been refusing to wear her floating all week so I just let her go without it- with a very close eye on her- and she took off. She learned how to "doggie paddle" to keep her head above the water. She also is able to jump into the pool then swim to the steps with no help. Today at the pool, she was diving to the bottom (3.5 feet) to get diving rings and coming up to swimming to me or to the side of the pool. She really has turned into a fish. I did not have my camera at the pool today so I have no pictures to add to the post.

Seacrest Beach- Fergus Family Vaction

We went to Seacrest Beach, Fl again this year for our family vacation. We had a house with a childhood friend of Paul's-Jason, his wife- Erica and there daughter- Lauren (18 months old). Jason's brother Dave and his wife Marie also came down with us. The house next door to us was 3 families that we know from our neighborhood in Atlanta.

Our House

Kayla's Bed.
There were bunk beds in the hallway that Kayla slept in. Since there was no way to close off the bunk beds, we closed her in by hanging the comforters over the bottom bunk. We called it her "tent bed" She really loved it.

Kayla on the beach.

The Pool.
The neighborhood that we stay at has a great pool. We spent a lot of time at the pool that by the end of Kayla was swimming by herself. She is swimming about 6-7 feet all by her self. She is able to come up and take a breath and keep going. She turned into a little fish this week.

Riding Bikes.
The house we rented was on a quite street. At night she would get to ride her bike around the circle . She was so excited that she could ride her bike in the street.

4th of July Night on the Beach.
Kayla got to do her first sparkler this year. She almost set daddy on fire with it.

Church Hill Downs

Paul and I went to Kentucky over a long weekend, partly for fun and party for Paul's work. We did get to go to Church Hill Downs on a race day. We had a great day. I have never been to a horse race before. The company that we were there with sponsored one of the races so we got to go down in the paddock before the race and into winner's circle after the race.

I take showers now not bathes

Kayla has now decided that she takes shower and is too old for bathes. It is nice because it is much shorter but it is also very sad because my baby girl is growing up too fast. She has take a shower every night for the past 2 weeks. She is no longer my baby girl!!

The Kid has no Fear!!

Since it was in the 90's all weekend, we spent most of the time at the pool. Again this summer Kayla has no fear of the water. After swim classes I hoped she would gain a heathly fear of the water, but no. We still have to watch her super close because she will jump in with or without her floaty and not be upset if she sinks to the bottom before I get to her. Her 2 favorite things at the pool are "big high" with daddy and the water slide.
The neighborhood pool water slide.

Kayla coming down the slide with Paul waiting to catch her since she is not aloud to go down the swimies or with another person.

Bid High with Daddy. Paul throws her up as high as he can and she usually hit the water as hard as she can coming up saying "more daddy". She truly has no fear of the water.

Playing School

Kayla has recently really got into roll playing. She has been playing school at home. She lines babies up on the steps or in chairs in her playroom and teaches them. It is so funny to listen to her talk to the babies like she is the teacher. She put them into timeout if they do not listen or moves their clip to red if they are being bad. She has one baby that always end up in time out. It is so fun to watch her think out loud.

Trip to see Grandma Di and Papa at the Beach

School is out and I had a free week before summer school starts, so Kayla and I went to Hilton Head to see my parents. Kayla LOVES the beach. She also got to go on a airplane again, so that makes even more fun to go.

She found a stroller at the house and then had take baby to the beach with us.
She pushed baby all over the beach.

Kayla thought she was so big that she got to ride her bike to the ice cream store. She does not like ice cream that much but she keep asking to go back so she could ride her bike there again.
